Sandy Buchanan

Sandy is a cybersecurity engineer with a background in safety-critical and security-critical systems. He helps clients in compliance and regulation-heavy industries develop and mature their cyber security programs to meet their business objectives as well as integrate security into their engineering and development practices. Most recently, Sandy have been focused on ensuring the privacy and security of cloud and IoT systems and the automation of security and compliance controls. He has worked with clients from a wide range of industries including, Automotive, Aerospace, Maritime, Oil and Gas, Energy, and High Tech.

He is involved on the boards of both Vancouver and Vancouver Island’s information security communities and helped to produce the inaugural B|Sides Vancouver Island security conference. Starting in 2020 he is acting as Co-producer for B|Sides Vancouver, the city’s premier grassroots information security conference.

Sandy holds a BASC in Computer Engineering from the University of British Columbia, an Advanced Diploma in Mechanical Engineering Technology from St. Clair College, and holds the CISA (Certified Information Systems Auditor) and GCSA (GIAC Cloud Security Automation) certifications.
