Phil Whiting

Phil Whiting has over 25 years of experience in the private and public sector in the areas of science, technology, and management. Phil has a PhD in Chemistry from the University of Toronto.

Phil started their career in 1991 as VP & Executive Scientist at Abitibi Consolidated. In 1997, they became VP & Science & Technology at Trojan Technologies. Phil held this position until 2000 when they became a member of the Board of Directors for Energy Visions Inc. In 2001, they also became President of Energy Visions Canada Inc. and a member of the Board of Directors for Luxicor.

In 2002, Phil left the private sector to become Director of Environmental Science Western, leading the start-up of a new research centre at Western University. Phil returned to the private sector in 2004 as President & General Manager of Thermo CRS Ltd., an automation company focused on applications in the pharmaceutical industry. Phil remained in this role until 2008 when they became a member of the Board of Advisors for Xiris Automation Inc.

In 2010, Phil returned to Mirexus Biotechnologies Inc., the company they co-founded in 2001, as CEO. Mirexus is a biotechnology company that develops plant-based products for use in cosmetics, food, and pharmaceuticals.

Phil Whiting has a Ph.D. from McGill University in Science, an MSc from Acadia University in Chemistry, and a BSc & MSc from Acadia University in Science.
