Martin Hagan has over 8 years of experience in the field of biology research. In 2022, they began working as a Biology Research Scientist II for Mironid® Limited. Prior to this, from 2014 to 2016, they worked as a Research Assistant at the University of Strathclyde. During this time, they worked on projects related to the optimization of Streptomyces coelicolor growth for improved secondary metabolite production and the development of a novel classification method for bacteria utilizing Hyperspectral imaging. In 2016, they also completed an Erasmus Laboratory Placement at Jagiellonian University, Krakow, where they worked on projects related to histamine H3/H4 receptors and the search for new 'drug-like' molecules designed as adenosine receptor ligands.
Martin Hagan completed a Bachelor's with Honours in Biochemistry and Microbiology from the University of Strathclyde in 2017, following a four year program that began in 2013. Martin then went on to pursue a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology at the University of Dundee, which they completed in 2021.
