Matt Heilman has a diverse work experience spanning over a decade. Matt started their career at OpenEye in 2005 as a Visual Designer, where they worked on design assets and user experience for various platforms. Matt then moved on to Action Engine as a Senior Mobile Designer, focusing on creating enjoyable user experiences for clients' mobile applications.
In 2008, Matt joined Moz as the Creative Director, where they played a crucial role in transforming the user experience and brand of SEOmoz into MOZ.com. Matt worked closely with the team to create the brand design and user experience that contributed to the company's growth.
At Nordstrom, Matt held two roles. Matt started as a Senior UX/UI Designer, collaborating with the Nordstrom Direct UX team to create visually appealing designs for mobile platforms. Matt then became the Lead Mobile UX Designer, guiding change in Nordstrom's mobile UX by creating intuitive designs and working with the engineering and user research teams.
Matt's next role was as the Lead UX Designer at Symform, where they led the effort to create an intuitive product for consumer cloud storage. Matt worked on design for various properties, including iOS, Android, web apps, and native applications.
After Symform, Matt joined RealSelf as a Senior UX Designer, leading the design effort and partnering with product stakeholders to define and iterate on the initial release of the iOS mobile app. Matt conducted extensive research to guide the feature set of the app.
In 2017, Matt worked as a Design Consultant at MirrorCache®, before joining Upbound in 2018 as the Founding UX Designer. Upbound is a cloud-native computing company that aims to optimize services across multiple cloud environments.
Throughout their career, Matt has consistently demonstrated their expertise in creating visually appealing and intuitive designs for various platforms, collaborating with cross-functional teams, conducting research to inform design decisions, and transforming brands and user experiences.
Matt Heilman earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Graphic Communication and Design from Eastern Washington University, where they attended from 2000 to 2005. During the same period, they also pursued a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science with a Multimedia Emphasis at Eastern Washington University.
