Misnomer Dance Theater is an innovative, award-winning company and a fast-paced mover-and-shaker in the arts world. Founded by choreographer Chris Elam, the company’s work has been recognized as “one of the top ten dance performances” of the year by The New York Times and has performed in over 300 theaters in fourteen countries. The company creates and tours original dance and pursues distinctive artistic, innovative and engaging initiatives, with recent projects including working with Bjork, Apple and the Sundance Channel. 

Misnomer extends its vision for the arts through its frequent presentations at the country’s foremost arts, business and thought leadership conferences, ranging from the FORTUNE Technology conference to TEDx. An innovator in connecting people with the arts, Misnomer is the founder of an audience engagement platform for the arts named GoSeeDoArts (GoSeeDo.org), a web service and community to give people new ways to shape their experiences with artists and their art.
