David Garcia is an experienced analyst in biodiversity and biosecurity at Environment Canterbury since June 2025, with a long-standing role as a volunteer and voting member for the Humanitarian OpenStreetMap Team since 2016. Previously coordinating the LandMark project for the International Land Coalition and contributing to urban planning and recovery efforts with the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, David has a diverse background in geography and urban planning. Academic accomplishments include a Doctor of Philosophy in Geography from the University of Canterbury and a Master of Science in Geospatial Analysis from the University of London. David also held positions as a GIS researcher, urban planner, and chairperson of the University of the Philippines Planners Organization.
