Luis Chavier

Luis Chavier is currently a Senior Software Developer at Mission Control Space Services Inc. Prior to this, they were a Principal Software Developer at Oracle from June 2018 to February 2021, where they developed back-end software for a cloud based financial planning solution for the education industry. Before that, they were a Software Developer at Vocado from September 2011 to May 2018, where they worked as a back-end software developer for a start-up on a novel solution for student financial aid management. Luis helped scale the system from zero to 150K+ students in production and $1B+ processed in funding. Luis has experience with object oriented development in Java and associated frameworks (dependency injection, persistence, etc.), and they have worked in an Agile software development environment. Luis also developed internal APIs to support complex business logic and has experience with modern version control practices, development workflows and testing strategies (e.g. GIT, code reviews, CI/CD, etc.), as well as experience with functional programming, relational databases, SQL, and REST APIs. Prior to their work at Vocado, they were the Founder / Lead Software Developer at Circuitar from April 2011 to June 2018.

Luis Chavier's educational career includes obtaining a Master of Science in Computer Science from Universidade de São Paulo, as well as a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the same school. Luis also has numerous certifications from online learning platforms like edX and Coursera, in topics ranging from sustainable energy and global warming to machine learning and cryptography.
