Mississippi Power Company is a public utility company. As of December 31, 2016, the Company was engaged in the generation, transmission, distribution and purchase of electricity and the sale of electric service within 23 counties in southeastern Mississippi, at retail in 123 communities (including Biloxi, Gulfport, Hattiesburg, Laurel, Meridian and Pascagoula), as well as in rural areas, and at wholesale to one municipality, six rural electric distribution cooperative associations, and one generating and transmitting cooperative. As of December 31, 2016, the Company owned a 79-mile length of 500-kilovolt transmission line, which was leased to Entergy Gulf States Louisiana, LLC. The Company offers a range of programs and services for homes, such as water heaters, heat pumps, financing and electric vehicles. The Company offers specialized programs and services for property managers, developers and other commercial clients.
