Anne Spafford

Anne Spafford currently serves as the Professor and Head of the Department of Landscape Architecture at Mississippi State University since January 2024 and as a Professor of Landscape Design and Associate Department Head at North Carolina State University from July 2022. Spafford has owned and operated Sprezzaterra Design Studio since January 2002, specializing in unique and creative landscape design. Prior academic experience includes serving as an Associate Professor of Landscape Design at North Carolina State University from January 2002 to May 2022 and as an Assistant Professor at Louisiana State University. An extensive background in landscape design began with roles as a Landscape Designer at Green View Companies and as a Landscape History Researcher for the Army Corps of Engineers. Educational qualifications include a Doctor of Design candidacy at North Carolina State University, a Master of Landscape Architecture from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign, and a Bachelor of Science in Ornamental Horticulture from the same university.
