Senal Liyanage

Graduate Research Assistant at Mississippi State University

Senal Liyanage is currently a Graduate Research Assistant at Mississippi State University, where responsibilities include conducting laboratory sessions on thermodynamics, kinetics, quantum mechanics, and spectroscopy, as well as leading general chemistry laboratory sessions for groups of 24 to 48 undergraduate students. Previously, Liyanage worked at the College of Chemical Sciences, Institute of Chemistry Ceylon from October 2017 to January 2020, focusing on transition state modeling and in-silico assessments of natural compounds against bacterial infections, while also mentoring students in computational research. Liyanage is pursuing a PhD in Computational Chemistry at Mississippi State University, having earned an MPhil in Theoretical and Computational Chemistry from the University of Colombo and a BS in Chemistry from the Institute of Chemistry Ceylon. Additionally, Liyanage possesses a High School Diploma in Information Technology from the University of Colombo.
