Matthew Michelson has a diverse work experience spanning over several years. Matthew began their career in 2004 as a Campaign Staff member at Election Day Enterprises, where they worked on a grassroots campaign and attended civic events on behalf of the committee. In 2004, they also served as a Legislative Aide at the Office of Senator Bill Stouffer, where they researched and prepared legislation and guided it through the legislative process.
In 2008, Matthew briefly worked as the Political Director at Pearce For State Senate. From 2009 to 2016, they held the position of Chief of Staff at Senator David Pearce's office, where they managed various administrative duties.
In 2016, Matthew transitioned to the Missouri State Teachers Association and served as the Government Relations Manager until 2020. Matthew then took on the role of Director of Education Policy, where they continue to work, focusing on education policy development and implementation.
Additionally, Matthew has previous experience as an Auctioneer at Richard Moffat Auction Service, where they successfully sold merchandise and maintained positive relationships with buyers and sellers.
Matthew Michelson completed their B.A. in Political Science at Westminster College (MO) from 1999 to 2003. In 2001, they also obtained a Diploma in Auctioneering from Missouri Auction School.

MSTA serves more than 44,000 educators and is dedicated to educating the state's children.
