Danien Scipio has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Starting in 2005, Scipio worked at the University of San Francisco as a Research and Teaching Assistant in the Physics Department and later as a Tutor at the Learning and Writing Center. They also served as a Lab Technician and Teaching Assistant in the Chemistry Department during a brief period.
In 2009, Scipio joined the California Institute of Technology as a Graduate Student Researcher, working on hydrogen production for fuel cell operation. They conducted research, presented findings in conferences, and used LabVIEW to control experiments.
Scipio then had short internships and roles at Support Care Services and UC Davis Medical Center in 2012.
From 2012 to 2014, Scipio worked as a Physics Instructor, Mentor, and Tutor at San Francisco State University.
In 2017, Scipio became a Researcher at the University of California, San Diego - School of Medicine before transitioning to a COVID-19 Contact Tracer and Public Health Advisor role at the University's School of Public Health in 2020. They were involved in responding to the pandemic and later assisted in reimagining the workplace with a focus on public health.
Most recently, Scipio joined Mitra Chem as a Materials Characterization Engineer, starting in May 2022. They also held the role of Engineer and lab/facilities manager at the same company, starting in September 2021.
Danien Scipio has a strong educational background in the field of medicine and materials science. They attended the University of California, San Diego - School of Medicine from 2015 to 2019, where they focused on medicine without obtaining a specific degree. Prior to that, they pursued a Master of Science (M.S.) degree in Materials Science and Engineering at Caltech from 2009 to 2011. Before their time at Caltech, Danien completed their undergraduate studies at the University of San Francisco from 2004 to 2008, earning a Bachelor's degree. During their time at Caltech, they also obtained a Master's degree in Materials Science.
In addition to their formal education, Danien Scipio has obtained additional certifications. They completed the ICH Good Clinical Practice E6 (R2) certification at The Global Health Network in August 2020. They also obtained a certification in Bioethics from the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) in April 2020.
