Alec Summers

Alec Summers is a seasoned cybersecurity professional with extensive experience in leadership roles, particularly in managing cybersecurity programs at MITRE from July 2017 to March 2022. In this capacity, Alec served as Principal Cybersecurity Engineer and Group Lead for Cybersecurity Operations and Integration, overseeing initiatives related to Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE) and Common Weakness Enumeration (CWE). Previously, Alec held significant positions at the Software Engineering Institute | Carnegie Mellon University, including Lead Cybersecurity Engineer and SEI/CERT Intern Analyst, where critical analyses of APT tools and the development of predictive frameworks for adversary capabilities were conducted. Additionally, Alec has experience in academia as an Adjunct Faculty member at Pittsburgh Public Schools and as a Teaching Fellow at the University of Pittsburgh. Alec holds a Master's of Science in Computer and Information Systems Security/Information Assurance from Carnegie Mellon University and a Doctor of Philosophy in Music Theory and Composition from the University of Pittsburgh.
