Samir Castillo is an experienced systems engineer with a strong background in leading technical projects and coordinating stakeholder development activities, currently serving as the System Engineering Lead at MITRE since February 2018. In this role, Samir leads the technical direction of GEOINT algorithm implementation and operational transitions, overseeing various software transition paths. Previously, Samir held positions at MITRE, including System Engineer Project Lead and System Engineer, where responsibilities encompassed managing projects, developing requirements, and supporting space systems integration. Prior experience includes serving as a System Engineer at the Office of Naval Research and as an Assistant Program Manager at NAVWAR, providing technical oversight and guidance for engineering products throughout the program lifecycle. Samir holds a Master's degree in Systems Engineering and a Bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from UC San Diego.
