Savanna Smith

Savanna Smith is an Artificial Intelligence Engineer Lead at MITRE since June 2018, specializing in the design and development of AI capabilities to address operational mission needs while advising governmental sponsors on maintaining trust and security in AI applications. In this role, Savanna manages a team of eight AI engineers, fostering professional growth and leading impactful initiatives, including a research consortium focused on reinforcement learning for wildfire mitigation. Previously, Savanna contributed as a Cyber Security Software Engineer and served as a Teaching and Research Assistant at the University of Connecticut, where contributions included evaluating smart socks for biometric authentication and training neural networks for star movement prediction at the Air Force Research Laboratory. Educational qualifications include a Master of Science in Environmental Management from the University of San Francisco and a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Connecticut.
