Derren Walker

Derren Walker has an extensive work experience in the technology and IT sector. Derren started their career as a Systems Engineer at Potterton Myson Ltd in 1996. Derren then worked as an IT Project Manager at GKN from 1997 to 2000, where they developed an IT strategy and provided support to the company's key decision makers.

From 2000 to 2001, Derren worked as an IT Manager at Smiths Group plc, managing a team and overseeing a network spanning multiple locations. Derren then joined Aegis Computers Ltd as an IT Consultant, where they worked on various IT projects for different companies and built partnerships with key parties.

In 2004, Derren became the Head of Technical Operations, Europe at CoStar Group UK, where they were responsible for upgrading the technical infrastructure and services following a takeover. Derren held this role until 2013.

Derren joined Accord Housing Association in 2013, initially as the Head of Information Systems and Comms, where they oversaw the delivery of Information Systems activities across the group. Derren then became the Director of IT and Comms from 2015 to 2019, and subsequently the Director of Digital Services from 2021 to 2022. During their time at Accord, they led various transformation projects and modernized their digital services.

In 2022, Derren worked as the Interim Director of Digital and Business Change at Southern Housing, before moving to Detra Consulting Ltd as a Director.

Currently, Derren is the Head of IT and Security at Mixergy Ltd, where they are building a technology and cybersecurity service offering for a manufacturing startup undergoing significant growth.

Derren Walker received a B.Sc (HONS) in Computer Science from the University of Wolverhampton, where they studied from 1992 to 1995. Prior to that, they earned a Higher National Diploma in PASS from the same institution, attending from 1990 to 1992. In addition to their academic degrees, Derren also obtained various certifications throughout their career. Some of these include the Microsoft Certified: Azure AI Fundamentals, Microsoft Certified: Azure Data Fundamentals, Azure Data Factory, Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals, Change Leadership, Change Management Foundations, Data Strategy, Microsoft Power Platform Foundations, Agile: It's Not Just for Software, Migrating to Azure, ITIL Foundation, PRINCE 2 Project Management - Foundation and Practitioner, Juniper JCNIA-SSL (SSL VPN), Juniper JCNIA-FWV (firewall), Cisco Certified Design Associate, Cisco Certified Network Associate, and Checkpoint Certified Security Administrator. The obtained dates for these certifications range from 2000 to 2023.
