VP Strategic Partnerships at Mobi Systems

Wan Chi Lau has a diverse work experience spanning over several industries and positions. Wan Chi started their career as a Research Assistant at MIT Lincoln Laboratory where they focused on computer vision. From there, they worked as a Software Engineer at Data Translation, Inc., specializing in image manipulation and processing algorithms. Wan Chi then became a Principal Software Engineer at Agfa Corporation, working on digital imaging products.

Lau later became a Senior Partner and Founder of Avalon Engineering Group, a software consulting startup specializing in solutions for the Macintosh/PDA market. Following this, they worked as a Senior Development Manager at Kodak Digital Imaging.

In 1998, Lau joined Millennium Pharmaceuticals Inc. as a Senior Manager, leading a multiplatform cross-functional Technology Delivery team responsible for supporting genomic technologies for alliance partners. Wan Chi played a pivotal role in generating $100M in annual milestone payments.

After that, Lau worked as the Director of Customer Relations at ITA Software, Inc., where they managed client relationships at all levels. Wan Chi then took a sabbatical and studied at Shobu Aikido of Boston from 2009 to 2016.

In 2016, Lau joined Mobi Systems Inc. as the VP of Strategic Partnerships. Wan Chi was attracted to the company's focus on tackling big problems using AI-based algorithms for mobility and personalization. Wan Chi appreciated the quality of the team and the opportunity to make a significant impact at Mobi.

Prior to their professional endeavors, Lau was the Managing Editor of RainyDayMagazine, an online publication focusing on technology and gear recommendations.

Wan Chi Lau's education history includes obtaining a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biology from Cornell University, which took place between the years 1977 and 1981. Afterwards, they pursued a Master of Science (MS) degree in Computer Engineering at Boston University from 1985 to 1987. In the year 2000, Lau attended the MIT Sloan School of Management for a program focused on Managing Technical Professionals and Organizations. Furthermore, in 2018, they obtained the rank of Nidan in Aikido from the Shobu Aikido of Boston.
