Nick Taylor is a Senior Consultant at Model Technology Solutions. Nick has over 10 years of experience in the IT field, specializing in systems engineering and architecture.
Nick began their career at The Maschhoffs in 2006 as a Sr. Systems Engineer. Nick was responsible for migrating Hyper-V Hosts from 2008 R2 to 2012, then to 2012 R2 for upwards of 250 guests VM’s with zero downtime utilizing Share Nothing Live Migration and Storage Migrations. Nick also migrated the Dev Environment from on premise legacy hardware to Microsoft Azure’s IaaS Platform, and migrated 750 user mailboxes from existing on premise Exchange 2010 to O365.
In 2013, Nick investigated and implemented Teglie Hybrid SAN for the test environment. Nick also participated in their SMB 3.0 beta program and worked hand in hand with their engineers to stress test, bug test, and benchmark new software builds.
Nick has also architected and deployed Identity management and automated user provisioning for Salesforce with Azure Active Directory, and architected and deployed Microsoft’s Scale Out File Server platform with JBOD to serve SMB 3.0 with 5TB of capacity raw with a 70% deduplication rate.
In addition, they engineered the production facilities failover clusters to take advantage of newer cluster in a box technologies, which produced cost savings of over 80k per site while maintaining the same SLA. Nick also implemented NetApp 2240-2 as an early adopter of SMB 3.0 File Based Storage, and migrated off of legacy network stacks to Juniper switches for Core, Distribution, Top of Rack, and Access Layers consisting of EX4500’s, EX3300’s, and EX2200’s.
Most recently, Nick has architected SolarWinds Orion NPM and NTA for full application monitoring and up/down status and alerts for over 500 nodes. Nick has also employed community sourced tools to create a NOC Dashboard showing all connected sites via Google Maps with weather overlay to compliment the functionality of the base platform. Nick is currently working on architecting multiple SQL Availability Group instances for increased uptime and performance for our internal applications with standby nodes acting as reporting and backup targets.
