Matthew Ibbotson

Materials Engineer

Matthew Ibbotson has been working in the engineering field since 2012. Matthew began as a Graduate Researcher and Teaching Assistant at the University of California, Davis. In 2014, they became a Technical Associate at FlexR&D and an R&D Scientist and R&D Engineer at Tribogenics. In 2018, they joined Modern Electron as a Materials Engineer and Associate Materials Engineer, and PHYSICAL OPTICS CORPORATION as a Lab Engineer. At Tribogenics, they assumed new responsibilities in R&D, production, and software development, integrated new SW/HW, led root cause analysis and generated process improvement solutions, created two LabVIEW programs, and wrote many Python programs. Matthew also increased device reliability and X-ray beam intensity by more than three times and designed and built a specialized charge density probe.

Matthew Ibbotson received their Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering from the University of California, Davis in 2011. Matthew then went on to pursue a Master of Science in Chemical Engineering from the same university, which they completed in 2014.
