John Diaz-Decaro is a seasoned epidemiologist with extensive experience in public health and research. Currently serving as Sr. Director of Epidemiology at Moderna, Diaz-Decaro leads initiatives focused on latent viruses and vaccine development. Previous roles include Director of Epidemiology for CMV Vaccine at GSK, where contributions to worldwide epidemiological strategies and post-authorization studies for Shingrix were noted. Additional experience encompasses public health research at Los Angeles Public Health Laboratories and academic instruction at California State University, Dominguez Hills. Diaz-Decaro earned a PhD in Environmental Health Science from UCLA and holds a Master’s in Experimental and Molecular Pathology from the University of Southern California, along with a Bachelor’s in Biology from Loyola Marymount University.
