Janice Mandel is the director of content and programming at Modev. Janice has over 20 years of experience in corporate affairs, strategic planning, reputation management, corporate communication, media relations, issues and crisis management, research, advertising, government relations, internal communication, and support for Board of Directors.
Janice began their career at Tarion in January 2002 as the vice president of corporate affairs. Janice was hired to help facilitate a restructuring, introduce a corporate-style culture and address the company’s reputation issues. During their time at Tarion, Janice led a re-branding that increased awareness and improved reputation by 20% within 12 months. Janice also developed research tools for tracking reputation and corporate awareness. In addition, Janice served as the spokesperson during an investigation by the provincial Ombudsman, discussion of a private members Bill to increase government oversight, crisis involving “crumbling concrete” in new homes, and widespread public concern regarding falling condo balcony glass. Janice generated over 200 media stories annually by leveraging positive news (e.g., new services, customer service awards for home builders, benefits of new home warranty).
In October 2011, Janice left Tarion to join Modev as the director of content and programming. In this role, they are responsible for Modev’s content strategy and execution across all channels including website, blog, social media, email marketing, events, and product marketing.
Janice Mandel has an MBA in marketing from the Schulich School of Business at York University, and they have also completed the Harvard Negotiation Institute at Harvard Law School. Janice has a BA in English from McGill University.
Their manager is Pete Erickson, Founder & Coach at MoDev. They work with James Poulter - Director of Programming & Strategy at VOICE Summit, Josette Oder Moynihan - Innovation Events Manager, and Kayla Gaul - Director of Event Operations.
