Kyle Van Volkinburg has a diverse work experience in the engineering field. In 2005, they interned at the Ohio Department of Transportation. Two years later, they interned at Honda Engineering North America, Inc., where they were a member of the engineering team using Solidworks/Catia to design jigs/fixtures for material handling robots on welding lines. In 2008, they interned at Liebert Corporation. From 2016 to present, they have been working at Modulim, where they have held various roles. As the Director of Engineering, they lead recurring stand-up meetings between engineering, product, R&D, and quality teams and manages and develops the engineering team. As the Director of Manufacturing, they manage multiple CMs (device and accessory), is the technical lead on-site to certify builds and debug equipment/process failures, and has reduced downtime by >20% through implementation of fixture and software tool improvements. As the Principal Mechanical Engineer, they assembled and qualified next gen medical device prototypes used in design V&V, led the design transfer of next gen device medical device to a contract manufacturer, and led DFM/DFA redesign to reduce build time by 10% and BOM cost by 15%. As the Design Engineer, they designed and built prototypes for feasibility testing, created design requirements, and identified and communicated with critical component suppliers.

Kyle Van Volkinburg obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from The Ohio State University in 2008, after studying there from 2003-2008. Kyle then went on to The Ohio State University to obtain their Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering from 2008-2010. Finally, they obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Mechanical Engineering from UC Irvine in 2016.
