Kevin Schawinski

Kevin Schawinski has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles.

Starting in 2007, they worked as a Henry Skynner Junior Research Fellow at the University of Oxford. After that, they joined Yale University as a Postdoctoral Associate and later became a NASA Einstein Fellow.

In 2012, Schawinski joined ETH Zurich where they served as an Assistant Professor. During their time there, they managed the Institute and the physics department, established a research group, and supervised and trained students and postdoctoral researchers.

In 2014, they became a Board Member at the Citizen Science Alliance, a position they held until 2018. In 2017, they also became a Board Member at the Citizen Science Center Zurich, a role which ended in 2018.

Since 2018, Schawinski has been the Co-Founder and CEO of Modulos AG. In this role, they are responsible for executing the overall business and technical strategy for the company's AI platform. Kevin leads a team of professionals from various disciplines, designs organizational procedures, and focuses on topics such as ML model development, data quality, algorithmic fairness, and AI regulation.

Throughout their career, Schawinski has published extensively in top academic journals, including Nature and Science. Kevin has a strong track record of mentoring and developing talent, with many of their students and postdoctoral researchers achieving success in academia and industry.

Kevin Schawinski attended The Leys School from 1997 to 2000. After that, they pursued a Bachelor of Arts degree in Physics and Mathematics at Cornell University from 2000 to 2004. Following their undergraduate studies, they went on to the University of Oxford, where they completed a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Astrophysics from 2004 to 2008.
