Alan Bourke, PhD, is a Professor of Humanities and Social Sciences in the Department of Liberal Studies at Mohawk College, where they teach a diverse range of courses and engage in extensive research on postsecondary access and employment pathways. Since 2011, they have been dedicated to facilitating student growth through various teaching modalities, including face-to-face, blended, and fully online courses. Bourke has presented at conferences both nationally and internationally and has led multiple SSHRC-funded projects aimed at improving educational access and outcomes. Prior to their role at Mohawk College, they held teaching positions at George Brown College, York University, and Ryerson University. They hold a PhD in Sociology from York University, along with a Master’s and Bachelor’s degree from the National University of Ireland (Cork).
