Gomaa Abdelsadek

Distinguished Engineer at Mojo Vision

Gomaa Abdelsadek has worked in a variety of roles in the field of polymer chemistry since 1999. In 1999, they were a Visiting Scholar at the University of Cincinnati, where they worked on the synthesis of functionalized pre-polymers for network formation, elastomers, and the development of organofunctional Siloxane compounds. From 2000 to 2002, they were a Senior Research Scientist and Postdoctoral Fellow at the University of Central Florida, where they worked on the synthesis and characterization of co- and ter-fluoropolymers, polymer functionalization, and the surface modification and coating of silicon wafers. From 2002 to 2010, they were a Staff Scientist, Senior Polymer Chemist, and Consultant at Ophthonix iZon High Resolution Lenses, where they built a state-of-the-art chemistry laboratory and investigated the feasibility of applying scientific principles and concepts. From 2010 to 2018, they worked at PowerVision, Inc. as a Principal Polymer Chemist and Senior Polymer Chemist, developing materials for a 'next generation & high performance' accommodating Intra Ocular Lens (IOL), establishing detailed material requirements and characteristics, transferring manufacturing processes to a pilot manufacturing line, prototyping materials for advanced research projects, and developing novel biocompatible adhesive materials. Gomaa also worked as a Consultant at ThyssenKrupp Elevator Corporation, providing intellectual consultation and developing materials for lightweight, high tensile strength, high stiffness, anti-abrasion & cutting, heat and chemical resistance, flame retardant, and vibration absorption applications. Since 2018, they have been a Distinguished Engineer at Mojo Vision.

Gomaa Abdelsadek obtained a Bachelor's degree in Chemistry from Minia University between 1979 and 1984. Gomaa then obtained a Master's degree in Reactions on bioactive natural products to increase the biological activities from Minia University between 1986 and 1988. Following this, they obtained a Doctor of Philosophy - PhD in Physico-Chemical Studies on the Behavior of Polymers in Solutions from Lomonosov Moscow State Academy of Fine Chemical Technology (MITHT) between 1989 and 1994. Finally, they obtained a Postgraduate Degree in Synthesis and Characterization of co- and ter-Fluoropolymers from University of Central Florida between 2000 and 2002.
