Shawn Nielsen Alvarado

Shawn Nielsen Alvarado has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries. Shawn started their career as an Assistant Manager at the UCSB Recreation Center, where they managed daily operations and supervised lifeguards and swim instructors. Shawn then pursued their academic interests at UC Irvine as a Graduate Student, conducting research on the neurobiology of emotional memory and coordinating with laboratory members on research protocols. Following their time at UC Irvine, Shawn worked at the USC Davis School of Gerontology as a Postdoctoral Researcher, where they managed laboratory space and equipment, conducted experiments on age, stress, and sex hormone effects on learning and memory, and trained colleagues on laboratory procedures. Currently, Shawn is employed at Molecular Devices, where they have held various positions. Shawn started as a Field Application Scientist II, providing technical support and training to customers. Shawn then became a Field Application Scientist Supervisor, overseeing a team of scientists. Later, they transitioned to the role of Bioimaging Sales Specialist, and is currently working as a Drug Discovery Sales Representative. Throughout their career, Shawn has demonstrated expertise in sales, scientific research, laboratory management, and team leadership.

Shawn Nielsen Alvarado pursued their education with dedication and focus. Shawn began their academic journey in 2003 at UC Santa Barbara, where they completed their Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Biopsychology in 2007. Motivated to further expand their knowledge and expertise, they joined UC Irvine in 2008. There, they dedicated himself to their studies and successfully obtained their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Biological Sciences in 2013. Shawn Nielsen Alvarado's educational background showcases their commitment to the field of Biological Sciences and their continuous pursuit of academic excellence.
