Ron Magliozzi

Ron Magliozzi joined The Museum of Modern Art in 1979 as Assistant Supervisor of the Celeste Bartos International Film Study Center, specializing in access, collections research, and acquisitions. Since 1993 he has organized over 50 monographic and thematic film programs, with particular emphasis on early cinema and animation. His gallery exhibitions have focused on the Quay Brothers, Pixar, Ernie Gehr, and Tim Burton, as well as home movies, in the exhibition Private Lives Public Spaces. An active member of the International Federation of Film Archives, Magliozzi chaired its Documentation Commission from 1990 to 1997. He has headed a number of the Museum’s archival film restoration projects, such as Bert Williams’s Lime Kiln Club Field Day; the Last Poets’ Right On!, and the Hubley Studios’ Of Stars and Men. His publications include Treasures from the Film Archive (1988), Quay Brothers, On Deciphering the Pharmacist’s Prescription for Lip-Reading Puppets (2012), and Club 57: Film, Performance, and Art in the East Village 1978–1983 (2017).
