Brian Villalba

Senior Scientist I at MOMA Therapeutics

Brian Villalba has worked in a variety of roles since 2012. Brian began their career as an Undergraduate Researcher at The University of Texas at El Paso, where they observed and expressed the enzymes responsible for the degradation of the side chain of cholesterol by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. Brian also served as a Teaching Assistant, instructing students on the learning points of the lab, including how to conduct experiments safely and efficiently. In 2013, they joined Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research as a Scientific Associate I and an Intern, using surface plasmon resonance (SPR) analysis to observe and quantify binding mechanisms between small molecules and a target for inhibition. In 2014, they became a Graduate Research Assistant at The University of Texas at Austin. In 2020, they joined MOMA Therapeutics, first as a Scientist I, then as a Scientist II, Biochemistry & Biophysics, and finally as a Senior Scientist I.

Brian Villalba received their Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Biology/Biological Sciences, General from The University of Texas at El Paso between 2007 and 2013. Brian then went on to The University of Texas at Austin and earned their Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Biochemistry in 2020.
