Eric J McCarthy

Eric McCarthy is General Counsel & Chief Legal Officer of Womble Bond Dickinson (US) LLP and works out of its Greenville, SC office. He directs all legal affairs for the firm and is a trusted advisor to the Firm Executive Committee, Management Committee and Global Board.

Eric brings more than 25 years of executive leadership experience to Momentum Dynamics’ Business Advisory Board. Before joining Womble in June 2020, he served as Senior Vice President of Government Relations, Public Policy and Legal Affairs of Proterra, a leading manufacturer of electric transit buses and battery solutions. He also previously served as its General Counsel and Corporate Secretary. As a brand ambassador for heavy-duty electric transit buses, Eric spoke regularly on issues concerning transportation electrification, clean energy and sustainability. His extensive state and federal policy efforts and coordination with national utilities have helped accelerate EV adoption and advance US investment in charging infrastructure.

Eric is accomplished in driving revenue growth for public and private companies in both established and high-growth markets, having also served as General Counsel of Honeywell Technology Solutions, Inc. Prior to joining Honeywell, Eric was an antitrust trial litigator and a partner in the antitrust and competition practice groups of Latham & Watkins LLP and Howrey in Washington, D.C. He attended Dartmouth College and the University of Pennsylvania Law School. Eric is a South Carolina Liberty Fellow and member of the Aspen Global Leadership Network (2019). He is also a youth lacrosse and gymnastics enthusiast.
