Founded more than 70 years ago, Momentum has become the largest nonprofit provider of direct-care services in Southern California for individuals with cerebral palsy, autism, Down syndrome and other developmental disabilities.  Serving over 1100 children and adults daily, our mission is to advance the independence, productivity and full citizenship of children and adults with developmental disabilities and those with similar service needs. 

Momentum offers over 40 programs and services across four counties, ranging from residential and day programs to advocacy and family support services. These include adult day activity and learning centers; affordable, accessible apartments, accompanied by supported living counselors; group homes with full activities and nursing staff; children’s programs; advocacy; and Respitality, giving parents a much needed break. 

In 2001, Momentum added Momentum Work, Inc. to our growing organization, expanding our services into Santa Barbara County. With the addition of Momentum Wheels for Humanity in 2007, Momentum's impact has been elevated to a global level.

The Therapists and Specialists team at Momentum provides comprehensive, individualized support to children and adults with developmental disabilities such as cerebral palsy, autism, and Down syndrome. Their services include occupational, physical, and behavioral therapy, as well as client rights advocacy and family support. By working collaboratively, this team maximizes the independence and integration of clients into their communities, ensuring they have access to necessary resources and opportunities for personal growth.

Therapists and Specialists

The Early Intervention and Pediatric Care team at Momentum focuses on providing targeted support and therapeutic services for young children with developmental disabilities. This team offers personalized intervention programs and therapies, including speech-language pathology, occupational therapy, and medical care, to promote developmental milestones and improve quality of life. They also engage in community outreach to ensure families are well-supported and informed about available resources and services.

Early Intervention and Pediatric Care

The Coordinators and Managers team at Momentum is crucial in organizing and overseeing various programs and services offered to individuals with developmental disabilities. This team includes roles such as Camp Escapades Coordinator, who manages inclusive recreational activities for children; Fine Arts Coordinator, who oversees creative programs; Project Manager, responsible for planning and executing organizational initiatives; Curatorial and Adaptive Design Manager, who designs supportive environments and tools; Human Resources Coordinator, who manages staffing and employee relations; and Events Coordinator, who organizes community and fundraising events. Together, they ensure the smooth operation and success of Momentum’s diverse offerings.

The Leadership Team at Momentum is responsible for setting the strategic direction and ensuring the effective operation of the organization. Comprised of senior executives including the President and CEO, Vice Presidents of Human Resources and Operations, Chief Programs Officer, and Chief Operating Officer, this team oversees all major functions within Momentum, including program development, human resources, finance, and service delivery. Their primary focus is on advancing the mission of enhancing independence, productivity, and full citizenship for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Leadership Team

The Human Resources and Community Relations team at Momentum is responsible for managing employee relations, recruitment, training, and organizational development to ensure a well-supported workforce. Additionally, they engage in building and maintaining strong relationships with donors and the community to foster support, advocacy, and awareness for Momentum’s mission. The team plays a crucial role in both internal employee development and external community engagement, enhancing the organization's ability to serve individuals with developmental disabilities.
