Shane Buggle

After a 25 year career with ANZ Banking Group, Shane Buggle retired in November 2021 from the role of Chief Financial Officer. Over his time at ANZ, Shane held a wide variety of roles, including Group General Manager - Internal Audit, Deputy Group CFO, CFO Institutional, CFO Australia and CFO Consumer Finance.

Shane has in excess of 35 years’ experience in the finance sector and has held senior roles at Zurich Financial Services and PricewaterhouseCoopers. Shane was a member of Council of Monash University from 2007 to 2018 and chaired the University’s Resources & Finance Committee from 2008 to 2018. He was a Deputy Chancellor of Monash University from 2015 to 2018 and served as the inaugural chair of the University’s Investment Advisory Committee.

With a deep interest in Indigenous engagement, Shane was the Chair of ANZ’s Reconciliation Action Plan at ANZ Banking Group as well as the executive sponsor of the Reconciliation Network and of Ngarga Wanndja.

Shane is currently a director of the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra.
