Toomas Kirt

Toomas Kirt is a data scientist with extensive experience in data analysis and technology, currently working at Monese since August 2018, where a prototype of an automated identity document scanner was created using deep neural networks and image processing methods. Prior experience includes serving as a principal analyst at Statistics Estonia, contributing to the Eurostat ESSnet Big Data project, and leading a study on smart electricity meter data. Earlier roles include postdoctoral research at the University of Tartu and the Institute of Cybernetics at Tallinn University of Technology, focusing on brain modeling and artificial neural networks. Additionally, Toomas Kirt has held various IT-related positions, including IT supervisor at the Estonian Financial Supervision Authority and the Bank of Estonia. Academic credentials include a PhD, MSc, and BSc in Information Technology from TalTech – Tallinn University of Technology.
