Chris Mesrobian

Senior Director of Business Development at Monolith

Chris Mesrobian has a diverse work experience spanning across several industries.

Chris started their career as a Summer Engineer at MPR Associates, Inc. in 2006, where they analyzed operational data and recommended replacement tube material for coal-fired power plants.

In 2007, Mesrobian worked as a Graduate Research Assistant at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, contributing to a DARPA/BOEING seedling project focused on investigating the feasibility of the DiscRotor Aircraft Concept. Chris designed experiments for wind tunnel and hover tests, presenting the results to program sponsors quarterly.

Returning to MPR Associates, Inc. in 2008, Mesrobian took on the role of Senior Engineer and gained hands-on experience developing thermal-fluid systems for clients in the US Navy, nuclear power, and biomedical industries. Chris led the development of these systems from concept to delivery.

During their time at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in 2008 and 2009, Mesrobian served as a Research Coordinator, contributing to an unspecified project.

In 2012, Mesrobian joined Blossom Coffee as an Engineer, where they designed and prototyped a precision coffee brewing machine, participated in incubator activities, and contributed to the design of automated fluid and heating systems.

From 2013 to 2015, Mesrobian worked as a Mechanical Engineer at EtaGen (now Mainspring), an organization focused on developing high-efficiency engines for distributed power generation. Chris played a vital role in the early technology development, rapidly iterating on design and successfully demonstrating key milestones.

Currently, Mesrobian is employed at Monolith Materials, where they started in 2015 as a Director of Technology and eventually transitioned to roles in business development. Chris oversaw technology efforts across lab, pilot, and commercial scales before assuming the position of Senior Director of Business Development in June 2021.

Chris Mesrobian earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering Mechanics with a focus on Fluid Mechanics from Virginia Tech in 2007. Chris pursued further education and obtained a Master of Science degree in Engineering Mechanics with a specialization in Fluid Mechanics and Dynamics from Virginia Tech in 2008. Chris also holds a certification as a Professional Engineer from the State of California, which they obtained in June 2014.
