Jimmy Sastra has a diverse work experience spanning several companies and roles. Jimmy is currently the CEO and Co-founder of Monomer Bio, where they focus on automating biology through high touch engineering services. Prior to this, they served as the Director of Hardware Engineering at Robust.AI, where they collaborated with Rodney Brooks, the inventor of the Roomba vacuum robot. During a sabbatical/consulting period, Jimmy assisted in scaling Next-Gen Sequencing-based COVID-19 testing at Ginkgo, worked on robotics engineering at Robust.AI, and brushed up on Machine Learning. Previously, they held the position of VP Engineering, Hardware and Drivers at Built Robotics. From 2014 to 2019, they were the VP of Engineering, Automation at Strateos, where they designed robotic workcells and incubators. Jimmy began their career as a Postdoctoral Research Associate at Willow Garage and also served as a Software Intern at the same company in 2008.

Jimmy Sastra has a strong educational background in engineering and applied mechanics. Jimmy began their academic journey at the University of Pennsylvania in 2000, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science in Engineering with a focus on bioengineering. Jimmy successfully completed this degree in 2004.

Motivated to further enhance their knowledge and expertise, Jimmy continued their studies at the University of Pennsylvania. In 2004, they completed a Master of Science degree in mechanical engineering and applied mechanics. Jimmy completed courses such as "Machine Learning," "Neural Networks and Deep Learning," "Structuring Machine Learning Projects," "Improving Deep Neural Networks: Hyperparameter tuning, Regularization and Optimization," and "Convolutional Neural Networks" from the online platform Coursera. These certifications were obtained between 2018 and October 2021.
