Roy Owens currently serves as a Deputy Sheriff for Monroe County Sheriff since March 2023. Prior to this role, Roy worked at Navy Gateway Inns and Suites from October 2017 to August 2023, holding positions as a Supply Logistics Operations Specialist and Front Desk Associate. Roy graduated from Florida Keys Community College with an Associate of Arts in Communications in 2018. Additionally, Roy held leadership roles in various capacities between November 2010 and April 2015, managing Flight Deck Ordnance Operations and training personnel in safety protocols related to weaponry and ordnance handling.

The Sheriff's Office provides law enforcement service to all of the Florida Keys, which include approximately 125 miles of islands branching off the southern tip of Florida. The main and only highway, U.S. 1 runs from Florida City to Key West, and in that span, there are 42 bridges connecting the islands.
