Joseph Merlin, PGA has extensive work experience in the golf industry. Joseph started their career as a Level 1 Intern at Montour Heights Country Club in 2006 and then went on to complete Level 2 Internships at Pittsburgh Field Club in 2007 and Promontory Ranch Club in 2008. Joseph joined The Loxahatchee Club in 2010 as a Professional Staff Member in Outside Operations. In 2009, they became an Assistant Golf Professional at Pittsburgh Field Club and then moved on to Metedeconk National Golf Club in 2013 in the same role. In 2015, Joseph became the First Assistant Golf Professional at Wannamoisett Country Club. Joseph then served as the Senior Assistant Golf Professional at Inverness Club from 2017 to 2018. Currently, Joseph is the Head Golf Professional at Monroe Golf Club, a position they have held since November 2018.
Joseph Merlin, PGA has a diverse education history in the field of golf. Joseph began their educational journey at Shaler Area High School from 2001 to 2005. After completing their high school education, Joseph enrolled at PennWest California, where they pursued a Bachelor of Science degree in Sport Management, with a focus on Professional Golf Management. Joseph attended PennWest California from 2005 to 2008.
Motivated by their passion for golf, Joseph furthered their education in golf course operation and grounds management through the PGA of America PGM Program. Joseph studied in this program from 2009 to 2012, earning the degree of Class A PGA Professional.
Additionally, Joseph Merlin has obtained several certifications to enhance their expertise in golf instruction and coaching. In 2013, they became a Certified Instructor from U.S. Kids Golf and a Coach from the Positive Coaching Alliance. Joseph also obtained the certification of a Certified 4-Elements of Putting Instructor from Eyeline Golf in the same year.
