Mark A. Carroll has worked in a variety of roles in the technology and research industries. In 2020, they became the Chief Executive Officer of Montana Instruments, a company that designs and manufactures high-performance optical measurement solutions for research and industry. From 2018 to 2020, they were a Board Member of Blackmore Sensors and Analytics, Inc., a leader in FMCW lidar and supporting analytic tools. Mark A. was also an Instructor at Montana State University-Bozeman from 2018 to 2020, teaching workshops for new and aspiring managers. From 2016 to 2018, they served as President of Bula Designs, LLC. From 2000 to 2016, they were Vice-President of Instruments Business at Newport Corporation, where they managed four separate brands and four separate plant locations. As of 2022, they are retired.
Mark A. Carroll completed their M.S. in Applied Mechanics at UC San Diego in 1987. Prior to that, they obtained their B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from UC Santa Barbara between 1980 and 1984. In 2016, they also obtained a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification from the Project Management Institute.
