MRL operates 82 locomotives, 1,100 railcars and in 2016 shipped 385,000 carloads.  MRL services over 150 local Montana businesses and moves their product to domestic and international markets on a daily basis. The Technical Maintenance Team at Montana Rail Link is responsible for ensuring the operational efficiency and safety of the company's locomotives and railcars. Comprised of machinists, telecommunications technicians, mechanical foremen, and electrician journeyman apprentices, the team conducts routine inspections, repairs, and upgrades to maintain equipment reliability. Their work is pivotal in supporting MRL’s commitment to safe and efficient transportation services for its customers.
