Aaron Schnittger

Aaron joined MBARI as a Mechanical Technician in 2018. His duties are to provide support in the design, development and implementation of hardware for science, engineering and operations using skills developed from working in a variety of educational, manufacturing, and construction industries. Aaron Holds a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering from San Francisco State University which puts him in a unique position to design, fabricate, and use the iterative process that is necessary with engineering projects that can withstand the rigors of the ocean environment.

Aaron is also a returning intern who developed a recovery device that has since been used successfully on numerous MBARI deployments and recoveries. The recovery device was noticed and licensed for use by the U.S. Navy.
