Tina Nieto serves as the Sheriff/Coroner for Monterey County since December 2022, responsible for policing, jail management, court security, and civil law enforcement. Currently a Commissioner for the California Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training (POST) since December 2021, Tina's previous roles include Monterey County Community Restorative Justice Commissioner, Chief of Police for the City of Marina, and Commanding Officer in multiple divisions of the LAPD. Tina has also served as a Waste Commissioner for Orange County and contributed as a POST Consultant for leadership training in law enforcement. Educational credentials include a B.A. in Criminal Justice from California State University, Fullerton, and a Master's in Leadership and Management from the University of La Verne.
