Richard Emmitt

Richard Emmitt is a General Partner of The Vertical Group, a leading venture capital firm specializing in the medical device industry, and was a founder of the firm in 1989.

Richard has over 40 years of experience in investment research, investment banking, and investment management. He has been an investor and member of the Board of Directors of several of the medical device industry’s most successful companies, including SciMed Life Systems, Xomed Surgical, American Medical Systems, ev3, Inc, and Wright Medical Group. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of Tornier, Tepha Medical, Galil Medical, and Soft Tissue Regeneration.

Richard holds a Bachelor of Arts from Bucknell University and a Master of Business Administration from the Rutgers School of Business.
