Sean P. Kilkenny

Sean P. Kilkenny was elected in 2015 as the Sheriff of Montgomery County, the third largest county in the Commonwealth. He was a long-serving member of the U.S. Army Judge Advocate General Corps and the son of a police officer.

Kilkenny served his country as an officer in both the active duty U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve for more than two decades. Now a retired lieutenant colonel, he began his military career as a paratrooper and federal prosecutor in the Judge Advocate General Corps. He has served in Iraq, Kosova, Bosnia, and South Korea.

As principal of Kilkenny Law, he has provided counsel on real estate, zoning, permitting, environmental, financing, employment, and litigation matters to municipalities across the Philadelphia suburbs. Currently, Sean serves as solicitor to numerous Townships, Boroughs, Zoning Boards, and School Districts in the Philadelphia suburbs.

Kilkenny was appointed to the County Records Committee by Governor Wolf in 2017 and has served on the board of Montgomery County Community College since 2013.

Kilkenny earned a master’s degree in strategic studies from the U.S. Army War College and a master of public administration from the University of South Carolina. He also earned his juris doctor from Temple University and his undergraduate degree from Villanova University. Kilkenny is also a graduate of the Pennsylvania State University Sheriff and Deputy Sheriff Training Program.
