Marlene Michaelson, as Executive Director of the Office of the County Council, holds an ex-officio position on the Board.
Ms. Michaelson was appointed in 2018 as Council’s Executive Director after serving as its senior advisor on land use and development issues for 29 years. As Executive Director, Ms. Michaelson oversees the provision of analytical, legal, and management services required by the Council for its fiscal, legislative, and land use decisions. In addition, she represents the Council on interagency boards dealing with information technology and community use of public facilities and on state and regional task forces and committees.
Prior to working for the Council, Ms. Michaelson managed consulting projects related to the financing of alternative energy projects for a Washington D.C., law firm and served as a Presidential Management Intern. Ms. Michaelson has a Master’s Degree in City and Regional Planning from the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University, with a focus in finance, and a BA from the State University of New York at Albany. She is a member of the Leadership Montgomery Class of 2001.
