Karen Eakes

Karen Eakes is a versatile professional with extensive experience in coaching, entrepreneurship, and water safety instruction. Currently serving as a Water Safety Instructor for Montrose Recreation District since October 2022, Karen also operates Karen Mary Confectionery, a small business specializing in high-yield CBD marshmallows, which was established in April 2021. Prior to these roles, Karen managed a household while relocating across several cities and contributed as an Assistant Coach for the Capital Adaptive Rowing Program, where coaching athletes with disabilities was a key focus. Karen's early career includes coaching for the DC Rollergirls, where leadership roles encompassed both coaching and co-captaincy, and a significant contribution on the Board of Directors, which helped the organization achieve financial stability and nonprofit status. Karen holds a BA in International Affairs from The George Washington University and has pursued further education at Jagiellonian University and Fielding Graduate University.
