Mark Bourland is the Principal Engineer at Monumental, a position they have held since 2013. Mark is responsible for all aspects of gameplay development on both the client and the server, with a focus on working within the Unity3d game engine. As the gameplay lead, they lead and mentors a team of engineers in their day-to-day tasks as well as in their career growth through task assignments, code reviews, technical design reviews, and one-on-one meetings.
Prior to their current position, Bourland served as Technical Lead at McLane Advanced Technologies from 2005 to 2010. In this role, they oversaw the technical direction and architecture projects within the scope and timeline allowed, coordinating with Project Mangers, Business Analysts, Testers and Configuration Management Technicians to provide quality products that comply with all business processes and development standards. Mark also implemented Continuous Integration (CI) and automated software builds for the development department via Cruise Control.NET, NAnt, and NCover. Additionally, they served as administrator for development and testing websites, databases, source control services, and issue tracking software using IIS, SQL Server 2005 and Subversion, and Trac.
Mark Bourland's educational career consists of a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from the University of Mary Hardin-Baylor, as well as Massage Therapy/Therapeutic Massage from the Lauterstein-Conway Massage School.
They work with Robert Burch - Senior Platform Engineer, Rath Yin - Distinguished Engineer, and Anton Tsai - Senior Software Engineer. Their manager is Clarky Lee, Engineering Manager.
