Thomas Turner

Thomas Turner has a diverse and extensive work experience spanning over several years. Thomas is currently working as the Head of Machine Learning - Financial Crime at Monzo Bank since May 2022. Prior to this, they held various roles at Aire, starting as a Data Scientist in September 2016 and gradually progressing to Lead Data Scientist, Data Science Manager, and finally Director of Data Science and Data Engineering. At Aire, they contributed to creating fairer credit decisions using contextual insights. Before joining Aire, Thomas worked at Royal Bank of Scotland, where they held positions such as Associate - Market Risk, VP - Exotic Equity Derivatives Trading, and Director - Hybrids Trading. During their time at RBS, they managed trading portfolios, risk, and integration efforts during a bank merger. Earlier in their career, Thomas worked as an Analyst - Strategic Risk at The Merchant International Group, where they managed research projects for FTSE100 clients. Their career began in 1999 as a Summer Intern - Systems Designer at Wm Morrison Supermarkets Plc. Throughout their career, Thomas has consistently demonstrated expertise in data science, finance, risk management, and project management.

Thomas Turner has a strong educational background in the field of mathematics and science. Thomas began their undergraduate studies at the University of Cambridge in 1998, where they pursued a degree in Natural Sciences with a focus on Physics. Thomas successfully completed their studies in 2002 and was awarded an MA MSci degree.

Following their undergraduate studies, Thomas moved on to the University of Oxford in 2002, where they enrolled in a Master of Science (MSc) program specializing in Applied and Computational Mathematics. Thomas successfully completed the program in 2003.

In 2003, Thomas then joined Imperial College London for further academic pursuit. Thomas enrolled in a Master of Research (MRes) program with a focus on Protein and Membrane Chemical Biology. Thomas completed the program in 2004.
