A native of South Carolina, Mary Jo Ramage Walker was born to the late Mr. Willie & Mrs. Eunice Ramage in Laurens, South Carolina. She grew up in and attended the public schools of that city. At an early age, she joined and was baptized at the Springfield Baptist Church of Laurens where she became one of the church’s musicians during her middle and high school years. Upon graduating from Sanders High School, she received a music scholarship to a junior college where she was the accompanist for the concert choir before transferring to Morris College. In 1968, she graduated from Morris College in Sumter, South Carolina with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in English. In 1974, Mrs. Walker graduated with a Master of Education in Reading from Clemson University. In 1987, she received her Masters + 30 Degree in Secondary Educational Administration. Mrs. Walker has been married to Mr. W. Lloyd Walker for 44 years, and they reside in Greenville, South Carolina. They have two lovely daughters: Mrs. Nakesha L. Harris (Franco Harris) of Burke, Va. and Dr. Ronda L. Walker of Midlothian, Va. They have two wonderful grandchildren: W. Camille Harris and Garrett Elliott Harris of Burke, Va. After teaching high school English for twenty years, Mrs. Walker became a High School Administrator for many years before becoming a Middle School Administrator. She is a member of Lowndes Hill Baptist Church in Greenville where Rev. Dr. Edward Dean Brantley is Pastor. There, her past and present positions include Sunday School teacher, Youth Advisor, Christian Education Committee Chairperson, President of Trustee Spouses, and Secretary of Couples Ministry.
