Jonathan Morris

Jonathan Morris started as Morris P. Hebert, Inc.’s Hydrographic Survey Manager in 2010. He is responsible for all hydrographic data acquired and processed. Mr. Morris is constantly researching the latest rules, regulations, and technologies in the field of hydrographic surveying.

While attending Louisiana State University, he spent most of his summers working on a survey crew for MPH in Houma. During that time, he served as a rodman and instrument man on various topographic, hydrographic, and construction surveys across the state. Mr. Morris graduated LSU with a Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering and has passed the Fundamentals of Engineering exam. He returned to Morris P. Hebert, Inc. to manage the Hydrographic survey department and has since been involved in various projects.

Mr. Morris has served as a party chief on a number of hydrographic survey projects utilizing GPS. He has gained valuable experience using many different types of hydrographic equipment such as single-beam and multi-beam hydrographic survey systems, side-scan sonar, and magnetometers. He has performed these types of surveys in Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Texas. He has used data from a magnetometer to pinpoint locations of abandoned wells. He is able to use data collected from hydrographic surveys to make maps that projects may require. He can also perform boundary and elevation surveys to use for mapping purposes.

Mr. Morris is certified in HYPACK 2010 and 2011 and has experience using other types of gridding and mapping software. He is also a member of the Hydrographic Society of America.

Jonathan Morris is currently enrolled at the University of Florida in an effort to attain his PLS license.
