Brittany Kintigh has a diverse range of work experience spanning various organizations and roles. Brittany started their career as an intern at MINKA Centro de Promocion y Solidaridad, where they created and ran a summer camp for low-income children. Brittany also gained experience in policy research and advocacy at the Michigan Council on Crime & Delinquency, specializing in adolescent development research for juvenile justice policy. Brittany worked as a contracted researcher at the Michigan Public Health Institute, conducting research on child mortality. Brittany then transitioned to the field of youth services, working at the Youth Progress Association as an intake manager and vocational education coordinator, as well as a case manager. Their responsibilities included managing the intake process for youth referred to the organization and developing vocational education programs.
Brittany later joined Morrison Child and Family Services, where they held positions such as program coordinator, program supervisor, program manager, and project director. Their roles involved overseeing and coordinating services in various programs related to child welfare, providing training and technical assistance, and advocating for funding through grant writing and legislative advocacy.
Additionally, they gained experience as a naturalist and educator at Fenner Nature Center, where they planned and implemented summer camp programs for children and mentored junior counselors. Brittany also worked as a summer program instructor at Impression 5.
Earlier in their career, they served as an AmeriCorps VISTA at El Paso Affordable Housing, collaborating with various organizations to develop financial education projects and curriculum for adults.
Throughout their work experience, Brittany demonstrated strong leadership and advocacy skills, as well as the ability to manage and coordinate programs and provide training and support to staff.
Brittany Kintigh completed their education in a chronological manner. From 2004 to 2009, they attended Michigan State University and earned dual Bachelor of Arts degrees. The first degree was in Social Relations & Policy, while the second degree was in Spanish. Following this, in 2009, they pursued a Study Abroad program at International House in Madrid, focusing on Language & Immigration.
After a gap of two years, Brittany went back to Michigan State University in 2011 and completed their Master of Arts degree in Youth Development in 2012.
In terms of additional certifications, Brittany obtained a Mental Health First Aid Trainer certificate from Mental Health First Aid in January 2022.
