Rebecca B. has a diverse work experience spanning multiple industries and roles. Rebecca began their career as a Solicitor at Buddle Findlay Lawyers in 2008, where they worked until 2012. In 2010, they participated in the Stage International program at Barreau de Paris, representing New Zealand. Rebecca also worked as a Secondee at the Office of Treaty Settlements in the New Zealand Ministry of Justice in 2010. In 2013, they joined the New Zealand Customs Service as a Legal Counsel, Corporate Services. Later that year, they moved to ANZ as a Compliance Manager - Prudential. Rebecca then held various roles at ANZ, including Regulatory Affairs Manager from 2015 to 2017, Senior Compliance Manager in Privacy and Data Protection from 2018 to 2021, and Snr Manager Business Governance and Controls - Data Marketing and Operations from 2021 to 2022. In 2022, they became the Head of Compliance at H.R.L. Morrison & Co. More recently, in 2023, they joined the Center for AI and Digital Policy as a member of the AI Policy Clinic Research Group.

Rebecca B. graduated with a Bachelor of Laws (first class honors) and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Victoria University of Wellington in 2008. During their undergraduate studies, they took a semester of DEUF at Université Jean Moulin (Lyon III), which was applied towards their LLB program at Victoria. In 2017-2018, Rebecca pursued a Master of Laws (LLM) degree at Columbia University. In addition, they obtained certification as a Certified Information Privacy Technologist from the IAPP - International Association of Privacy Professionals in February 2021. In October 2008, Rebecca was admitted to the Bar by the High Court in Wellington.
